The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

As previously stated in earlier posts: I'm terrible at this, keeping up with updating this blog. BUT, here I am. I don't remember when I last blogged or what it was about but there's been a bunch of exciting things happening. We are expecting another neice! This time from my sister Laura! This is her fourth child and they found out in early November that it is a girl! So, four Morrow Girls! How exciting! I have already taken a week off of work for her due date and to spend time with her and the new addition and the family. I can't wait and April will be here before I know it! Last night we went to my company Christmas Party. It was at the Alamodome downtown and we had two bands to entertain us, Lonestar and Styx. It was fun and decorated beautifully! We went with two other couples Billy and Stephanie and Cayman and Jennifer. We had a hotel downtown so we all didn't have to drive back to Boerne last night. So, it was a mini NYE reunion since that was the last time we all piled into a hotel room.

Enjoy the pics...

Ten Things Tuesday: August 12, 2008

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday

Another Tuesday is here! I can't believe a week has already passed and it's that time once again!

1. I started a website with all of our wedding photographs. It is still not complete but I've gotten a lot done and I'm thankful for the time I had this weekend to start it. Wedding Picture Website Alot of family members wanted to purchase some pictures from the wedding and until now they couldn't. Our photographer's assistant gave us the name of the lab where Carolyn took all of her photos and since the owner knows Carolyn and her story he'll allow us to copy any pictures we'd like at cost. SO...I had to get a site started for people to pick which photos they wanted. It'll be complete soon. Maybe even tonight! :)

2. It rained today. Almost all day. We've needed the rain very badly so it was nice. However, this morning when it was thundering it made me want to stay in bed even more! I love to lay in bed on rainy days.

3. Tomorrow through Friday we'll be taking nothing but billing calls from other reps at work. Should be exciting! Haha! No, I'm kind of looking forward to it because we had two days of billing training, on top of our other two billing trainings so it should be great to do what we've been learning. Then, Monday we are in our real spots on the floor. It will be sad though because we'll leave eachother. We've all been in training together since the beginning of May and now we'll all be sent in our different directions. But, I've made great friends and people I'll get to see and know around work.

4. This weekend I'm going to my mom's side of the family's reunion. It'll be great to see everyone we only get to see about once a year. We are also celebrating my grandfather's birthday on Sunday. I'm also going to get to meet my second cousin, Jacob! My cousin Cristina and her family live in California and Jacob was born in late May so we'll all get to see him!

5. My mom and dad have been working on their backyard for the past few months and mom got a new patio set so we get her old one! Haha! But, I love it and it'll look great on the deck. I can now move the small bistro table and chairs to the front porch and make it look welcoming out front.

6. We have been coming up many ideas to fix up the house. The yard is a mess and when Blake bought the house 5 years ago it was going to be his starter home so when he moved in he hit the ground running with a new roof, new flooring, new paint and appliances. However, he left his job to go back to school so it put a hold on a lot of the work. Now, we are going to replace the carpet in the bedrooms with hardwood, paint the bedrooms, I've already painted the living room, dining room and kitchen, and hopefully new countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms. Outside is going to need the most work. The front yard is not a yard, but a hill. We are going to talk to some friends of Blake's who own a landscaping company to see what we can do. We are also going to build a fence and maybe pour a new driveway. I'll post before and after pictures as we move along.

7. I've lost three pounds since the beginning of August! I'm sure thankful for that. I've started working out again and hope to lose a lot more.

8. Hmm...I'm pretty boring this week. I think that's all I've got!

See you all next week!

Deck of Cards

~I was sent this in an email and thought I'd share it.

DECK OF CARDS

It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn't been heard.

The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week.

As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.

Just then an army sergeant came in and said, 'Why aren't you with the rest of the platoon?'

The soldier replied, 'I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord.'

The sergeant said, 'Looks to me like you're going to play cards.'

The soldier said, 'No, sir. You see, since we are not allowed to have Bibles or other spiritual books in this country, I've decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards.'

The sergeant asked in disbelief, 'How will you do that?'

'You see the Ace, Sergeant? It reminds me that there is only one God.

The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, Old and New Testaments

The Three represents the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.

The Four stands for the Four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

The Five is for the five virgins there were ten but only five of them were glorified.

The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth.

The Seven is for the day God rested after making His Creation.

The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives --the eight people God spared from the flood that destroyed the Earth.

The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy He cleansed ten, but nine never thanked Him.

The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.

The Jack is a reminder of Satan, one of God's first angels, but he got kicked out of heaven for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.

The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.

The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.

When I count the dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year.

There are a total of 52 cards in a deck; each is a week - 52 weeks in a year.

The four suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

Each suit has thirteen cards -- there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.

So when I want to talk to God and thank Him, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for.'

The sergeant just stood there. After a minute, with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart, he said, 'Soldier, can I borrow that deck of cards?'

Please let this be a reminder to take time to pray for all of our soldiers who are being sent away, putting their lives on the line fighting

Prayer for the Military:
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them. Bless them and their families. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Ten Things Tuesday

XBOX Wife Ten Things Tuesday

I found this on a friend's blog and thought it would get me to writing again, at least once a week! If you're interested here's the link to get your own list started on your blog: http://xboxwife.blogspot.com/2007/04/ten-things-tuesday-guidelines.html

1. I'm thankful that I have a "handy" husband. I got a new laptop and Blake put together my new laptop table.

2. I'm thankful for finally getting my real wedding pictures after almost a year. The reason we didn't receive them was very sad however; my photographer and her husband were in a terrible car accident about a month after our wedding. BUT, I am so thankful that they are alive and doing better. Please keep Carolyn and her husband Mike in your prayers.

3. I'm thankful for my dogs. Every day they are so excited to see me pull into the driveway! When I let them inside they jump and run all over the place in excitment.

4. I'm thankful I don't have a teenage driver. Ha-ha! Working in insurance it is the dreaded call that parents make to me daily to add thier teen driver. They know that their rates are about to sky rocket. I'm also thankful that I am not a teenager anymore! :)

5. I'm thankful for my health and that I'm able to work out even though I don't want to. I tell myself on days when I'm really not feeling up to it that there are people out there who would love to get up and go for a jog. God gave me my body and I need to take care of it.

6. I'm thankful that both my parents and Blake's parents, besides his dad, live close by. I love stopping by their houses just to say hi and have them over anytime we decide to cook a big meal.

7. I'm thankful for fast running, new computers.

8. I'm thankful that tomorrow is Wednesday and it's my last day of training at work. It's been 3 months of training...I'm ready to get going and have my new schedule. I'm thankful for having three days off a week!

9. I'm thankful for the rain we had today. It wasn't a lot but anything is appreciated.

10. Finally, I'm thankful I found Jill's blog with the Ten Things Tuesday idea! Go get one yourself!

Love you all,
Holly

Time flyer

Time flies! Just the other day we were ringing in the new year and now here it May. So, turns out I'm really, really bad at this.

Let's see. Blake and I have another neice to add to our collection! :) Her name is Trinity Leigh Cloud. Wade and Tiffany are her proud parents and we all welcomed her into the world on March the 31st. She was one day early! She's precious of course and we get to see her often which is great.

Blake is in the middle of finals and is very busy studying and working and making sure I'm happy. Ha-ha! He always makes me happy. Another big event is that I'm starting a new job. YES, another new job. Third one in the course of a year. But, as we all know I'm young and can be flighty although I still don't like the idea of that one bit. But, USAA called about three weeks ago now and I went through a two week interview process and start on the 12th of this month. It's a great company to work for with a lot of benefits. I was shocked when I got the message because I applied for a job with USAA about a year ago and they just now called. I'm looking forward to the oppurtunity and the chance to use my insurance license again.

Let's see...what else of our exciting life can we offer? We've been hanging out with friends and having them over for cook-outs and enjoying their company and they come back so we assume they enjoy our company. We have been watching the Spurs play in the NBA playoffs...Blake's doing that at this moment. This past Sunday I went into San Antonio with my parents to have brunch with my sister-in-law Laura. She was down from AZ for her friend's wedding. We went to the Gristmill. It was delicious. Blake really should've been there cause he loves biscuits and gracy and the biscuits were about the size of my whole hand and the gravy was made from scratch I assume...it was good. Not as good as my Granny's but it was close.

Oh, we have another family member who will soon be joining us. My cousin Cristina is pregnant and expecting a little boy in July. His name is Jacob. We can wait to see him either. We went in April and the cousins through her a baby shower. She got some great stuff and a fun time was had by all.

This upcoming weekend is Mother's Day. We are going to church with my mom and dad, then eating lunch over at our house (we are grilling for mom...Blake's the best Steak griller this side of anywhere!) and then Blake's installing her satallite radio. For dinner we are going to Blake's mom's where we will eat again. Kathy and Wiley bought a house here in Ranger Creek so now we have both sets of parents right down the road...we are at the back of Ranger Creek up on the hill and we drive by their houses everyday. Neither sets of our parents are ever home though...they have more of a life than we do! :) Kathy always said she was a terrible cook and didn't like big crowds and such but now that they have that house she's cooking up a storm. She invited us for breakfast and we've gotten a few invites to some dinners. So, it must've been her old kitchen she didn't like...not the cooking and company! :) That's good to know. We look forward to spending time with both of our mother's and family this weekend.

So...that's the latest on our exciting life. We'll return in just a few months with the next half of the days of our lives. ;)

January

Well, well, well...I'm not so good at keeping this thing updating now am I?? I am not even sure if you people read this thing but here goes our January update.

We rung in the New Year with some great friends. We got a hotel room dowtown and had four other couples join us. It was a blast. We all brought some food and beverages and played poker for a little while and then went up to the huge balcony that overlook Hemisphere Park, where they shoot off fireworks every year. The hotel was hosting a group of retirees who travel all over the U.S. all year long but NYE they spent in San Antonio so it was 8 of us young folks and a whole bunch of retirees. It was quite hilarious but it made the night so much fun!! We are already planning on doing it again next year!

Here are some photos...

The hotel had a huge movie screen on the roof above the pool and cabana. We all sat on the balcony for a while watching old black and white Elvis movies...it was fun!

Jennifer (in the middle) got us all tiaras and horns!! I'm on the left, Jennifer's in the middle and Stephanie is on the right!
She got top hats and horns for the guys...they took them off after we decided we got enough pictures of them! They were so cute. Blake is on the left, Cayman is Jennifer's husband and Billy is on the right, he's married to Stephanie

The guys playing pokerBlake, me, Billy, Jennifer, Stephanie and Courtney and Robert...this was up on the balcony. It was very cold as you can tell by Courtney's face

So, our NYE was fun.

I think it was the second weekend in January when we made a trip to College Station for the LSU vs. A&M basketball game. My dad's cousin John is the head basketball coach at LSU and since he was going to be only 3 hours away he got us tickets to the game. We drove up to CS with mom and dad and Laura and Chris met us there. It was a lot of fun!!

Here are some pics...

Okay, we HAD to go to Cenare's THE BEST Italian food restaurant EVER. I used to work there when I lived in College Station. It's owned by a cute Italian couple...you have to go if you are ever in town.

Dad wanted a Calzone, from next door, Mr. G's Pizzaria. Mr. G is the husband of the lady who owns Cenares. The waiter said it was a "meal" size calzone. I guess we didn't hear him when he said "A meal for 25 people." Acutally, he didn't say that at all. When it came we were all surprised at the size of this thing!!

Me and my sister Laura at the LSU game. John got us very good tickets. We sat right behind the team with the only other LSU fans there...about 10 of us total. The other fans were family members of the players.
Blake and me at the game...John coaching his team...
Laura and I pretending to be TigersThis guy, Randolph is his last name, is very tall. Or, we are short. You be the judge. Mom, Dad and John after the game So, the rest of the month....

My niece Kendall showed her second lamb in the Erath County Jr. Livestock Show. I missed it again this year due to work. I AM going to make it next year.

My sister and her family just came down this passed weekend. My sister is selling Silpada Jewelry and so am I now by the way www.mysilpada.com/holly.kallemyn, thanks Laura!! So, we hosted a jewelry show for her and had a lot of fun with everyone who came.

The rest of the month has been filled with basic stuff: work, school, payin' bills...the fun stuff!

We've been busy hanging out with friends and enjoying life. So, I guess this'll be a monthly update thing but I'll keep you posted with February's news and the rest of the year!

Love you all...
Holly and Blake
