baby 2 - macy jane!

Last night we found out that we are expecting another baby girl! I was getting so anxious because it took a while for the tech to find the area she was looking for and then she said, "Well, the baby's legs are closed..." and started "hitting" on my belly with the wand trying to get the baby to move. She moved somewhat and the tech said, "it looks like a girl...I just need a better look."

One of my fears of finding out was that we'd go in and we'd actually not be able to find out because the baby wouldn't cooperate. So, I looked at Blake and gave him that look, the, "I-knew-we-weren't-going-to-be-able-to-find-out!!" The tech asked me to roll over on my left side for a while and I rolled back and we tried again. Then, she had me get up and jump up and down. LOL!

Finally, even though the baby kept her legs crossed at the ankles her thighs opened up enough for her to say it was a girl and get some good pictures.

We were excited and told Anna, "You're going ot have a baby sister." she shook her head "no." Haha! But, this morning she said she was excited to have a sister and once we have a name we can talk more about her and pray for her instead of "baby" This is one of the main reasons we wanted to find out this time around was so we could prepare Anna and since the beginning Anna has referred to "him" and "brother" Even when I showed her the first sonogram pictures she grabbed the picture and said, "I wanna hold him" So, we knew that since the baby has a 50% of not being a boy we should find out so we can prepare Anna and talk specifically about him or her. Now, we can! Anna's baby sister! :)

Anna also kept telling us that her tummy hurt and she needed on the bed. and on the way home she said "I need to go in the office...my tummy hurts." because she wanted to get her tummy looked at too.

We asked Anna what we should name her baby sister and she said, "A-N-N-N-N-N-A" (how she spells her name) and we laughed and said that would be very confusing and if we sent her sister to time out how would she know we weren't sending her to time out.

The cutest part, the part I wish I had my camera, was when the tech turned on the sound and let us hear the heartbeat. Anna's jaw fell and she stared at the screen in awe. It was a precious moment.

I can't wait to hold this precious baby and see her and see if she looks just like her big sister. I'm so thankful for the gift of life and for being blessed with another healthy baby! God is good.

Things to Remember: You're Getting Heavy

I carried Anna into school this morning to steal some extra kisses and once we got in the door she said, "Momma, let me down. You're getting to heavy." Haha! We've been telling her how big and heavy she's getting and it's harder to hold her. She must think just not wanting to be held means i'm getting heavy too. :)

Pregnancy #2: 15 weeks, 5 days

How Far Along: 15 weeks 5 days

Size: 2 1/2 ounces

Baby changes: Legs are growing longer than arms now. Eyelids are still fused shut but light can be sensed. Baby can now wiggle its fingers and toes and make breathing movements in preparation for life outside of the womb.

Best Moment this week: Feeling the baby move on and off. I went to my regular dotor appointment today and everything sounded good. We actually can hopefully find out on Thursday what this little baby is! We are going to an ultrasound place that specializes in 3 and 4d and early gender determinations. That's going to be pretty exciting!

This morning on the way to dropping Anna off we were talking about the baby and she said, "Momma. this is MY baby, ok??" She's so funny and I hope that she's a great big sister...until s/he takes her toys! ;)

Gender: Unknown - Hopefully we will know by this time on Thursday!

Movement: Started feeling the baby, for sure, this week.

Food Craving: Nothing too bad...I still like potatos and salty things - chips, the sun harvest cheddar ones are the bomb.

What I miss: Sleeping through the night

Sleep: See above...not getting a lot of it. But, I shouldn't complain now.

What I am looking forward to: This Thursday! Finding out the sex!

Symptoms: Just growing pains...I can feel my stomach getting bigger and I feel extra fat lately.

Total weight gain/ Loss {ya right}: my doctor's office computer was down and so I don't know...

Things to remember: by-la-hess

I have to piggy back off of the last post because this happened a couple months ago but I didn't get it down. Anna, since pretty soon after she started her new day care back in April, would sing, "by-la-hess" and for the life of us we couldnt figure out what song she was singing. We asked teachers what song it might be and they didn't know either.

Finally, one night my parents were over and we were singing songs that she knew from school. One of her faves is my god is so big, so strong and so mighty there's nothing my god cannot do! We were singing and got to the sort that goes, "the mountains are his, the valleys are his. The stars are his handy work too!" And guess what Anna sang? "The mountains his, the by-la-hess" lol! She was saying all along, the valleys are his!! :)

Things to remember: power, wonder working power!

<p>I love hearing Anna sing songs and she loves to sing. Each Wednesday they have chapel at day school and they sing! This morning she came strolling in the kitchen singing, "power! Power! Wonderful!" And it got me singing the hymn too...which happens to be one of my faves. "Power, power wonder working power in the blood of the lamb!" :) she sang while I was buckling her up and it brought me much joy!

I love Anna and her love of singing, music, and love that her day school is apart of our church!

Things to remember : Daddy is my Father

Anna keeps telling me during bath time that her daddy is her father. Over and over. :) I wonder if it's all just confusing to them. Mommy, mother, mom, momma, father, daddy...all the same name for one thing. :)

Pregnancy 2, Week 12

How Far Along: 12 weeks 2 days

Size: 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches

Baby changes: Fetal growth is rapid now. In the next 3 weeks crwon-to-rump length of baby doubles.Fingernails also appear this week. external genitalia are beginning ot show distinguishing features. In a nother 3 weeks development of the fetus into a male or female is completed.

Best Moment this week: Thursday was Thanksgiving and we spent it with Blake's family, yesterday I got the tree put up and started decorating the house for my favorite holiday, Christmas! And, today my sister and her family are here for our Thanksgiving with my parents.

Putting up the tree and three stockings was kind of bitter-sweet. This will be our last Christmas as a family of three. I need another stocking for BabyK2!

Food Craving: Potatos!! I love the broccheese one from Jason's. Really, any kind of potato at any time of day is really, really great!

What I miss: Sleeping through the night

Sleep: See above...I'm also having those really weird, really vivid and real pregnancy dreams. Last night I dreamed some dude asked me to marry him and he knew I was already married and he was already married. He held a dinner and had his friends and family there and invited his wife and Blake too. It was so strange.

What I am looking forward to: Tuesday is my 3rd dr.'s apt and we will get to hear the heartbeat. I love that sound!

Maternity clothes? Yes...jeans/pants just cause they are so comfy! And, semi-necessary at this point. I just let it all hang out. woohoo

Labor signs: No

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Mood? feeling good.

Things to Remember...

I'm keeping a short posts of things we really hope to never forget about Anna. Blake asked me the other day, "You're writing this stuff down, aren't you." "Yes, dear. Yes, I am." :)

Anna says Look at the... like, "Look a la!" Like, "Look a la moon!" and "Look a la tree!" It's really cute how she says it.

When she wants to fix my hair she says in a chinese accent, "Let me fick ya hai" :) Lol!

If I moan or take a deep breath she runs over and asks, "Momma, your tummy (or sometimes says belly) hurt? Hurt cause the baby?" and of course she always tells us "My tummy hurts!" and we ask why and she says, "Cause of the baby...." Ha!

Um....that's all I can think of now that we recently talked about it. :)

Things to remember...

Not long but I have to keep track of wonderful things out of the mouths of babes!

Last night at dinner we asked Anna to pray. Her prayer before meals at school is, "ABC, 123 Thank you God for feeding me." But, Anna said, "Jesus, thank you for our food. Amen." All by herself. It made Blake and I so happy that she is learning so much about Jesus and His love and providing for us.

Two Year Old Anna!

Anna turned 2 on Sunday August 19th! Wow! What a great little year and awesome little blessing she is. She’s a little firecracker, so smart, so funny and her little personality is well, demanding. She might take after her daddy in the looks department but she’s stubborn, knows what she wants, but is very sweet all at once…just like her momma! ;)

We went to her 2 year check-up and she’s in the 25th percentile for her age. After she was born and “caught up” from not being on the growth charts at all she’s always hovered around the 20th -25th percent and she’s still there and he said he doesn’t care where she falls (unless it’s way low or way high) as long as she isn’t showing huge dips or increases in growth. And, she’s been steady so all is good in the growth department!

The doctor was quite impressed with her vocabulary and told us to continue what we are doing. The only thing we’ve done is read to her and that’ only because that is her toy of choice. Even as a 9 month old she’d sit in our lap and “study” a book page staring at the colors and scanning the page. She loves to read. We’ve never done Baby Einstein or Any Baby Can Read (and our pedi actually advised against anything like that with “sight words”) but we’ve only just played with her! And, that we can continue doing! Now though she wants to sit down beside us and not in our lap when we read to her and that breaks my heart.

When she was sitting there while we were talking she interrupted and said, “I want the white one” while pointing to a magazine and he said that is a three year old complete sentence. We told him she has LOTS to say and a MIND to think she can tell us what to do as well. He said that with kids like Anna the discipline department is going to be a lot different than average kids because they are always thinking of their “next move” and that is totally Anna. When we sit down and talk to her about bad behavior or something she just did she is looking at us but you can totally tell she is thinking of what she is going to do when I’m done talking.

Sunday she asked me, “Momma, you sleep good?” and then when Blake said he was going to jump in the shower Anna looked puzzled and said, “Daddy’s going to jump in the shower?!” while doing the jump up and down motion. It was so funny!

Here’s Two-Year Old Anna in a nut shell
She can say her ABC’s
Count to 10
Sing: Jesus Loves Me, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Happy and You Know It, Wheels on the Bus…I think I’m missing a couple
Knows ALMOST all her colors (lime green and yellow mix her up)
Knows her basic shapes
Loves to “Play House”
Loves pajamas
Loves to play outside
LOVES to ride in dad’s truck
Likes all foods but in particular loves cheese, ham cubes, fruit, carrots, and of course cookies
Likes to do her puzzles and read

Besides all that her little mind knows she’s such a firecracker. She loves for the three of us to be together. If I’m in her room with her she calls for Daddy and vice versa. She likes to have us all together for everything we do. When we are in a parking lot and me or blake ask for her hand to hold she looks around for the other parent to make sure that she has their hand to hold as well. She thinks she’s so funny. She will bus out laughing at herself all the time. She’s so cute! She loves her sleep. We have to wake her up in the mornings and she isn’t very happy about it!

I can’t wait to continue to watch her grow and learn new things. We celebrated her birthday on Saturday with family and friends and she had the most fun!

22 months...

Anna is talking so much and blowing my mind. She has been "Singing" the abc song for a couple weeks but now she can sing almost the whole thing! "ABCDEFG ....LMNOP ...TUV..YZ...YAY!" and, she knows all of her colors and knows that, "Airplane is in the sky" and yesterday at dinner told us, "Daddys shirt is orange." My jaw dropped and I was like, "Really? how do you know that! stop growing up! omg!"

Then, last night she crawled up in the twin bed that's in her room and curled up with a teddy bear and pillow and said, "night night." There's NO WAY, i'm going to be emotionally stable the day that she transitions into her toddler crib/bed or the twin bed. NO WAY. THinking about it makes me teary-eyed.

When they say kids grow fast that's the understatement of the year. I can't believe that one year ago, 9.5 months old, she wasn't even walking and barely saying momma and daddy and now it's like, "how can that only be one year ago?" It seems like light years ago but it was only 12 little months. It's just crazy.

Some of Anna's favorite things:

Elmo

Colors - She likes to pick things up and tell us what color it is

Books - always been her thing. her favorite is one that her Aunt Lala gave her. It's 100 first words but it's pictures of animals, food, babies "doing" things like sleeping, eating, bathing, etc..., transportation,etc.. She loves sitting and naming everything and pointing to things when we ask her, "Where's the truck" or whatever

Outside - loves playing outside of course

Walks - 4-5 times/week she gets a ride int he stroller with me pushing her around the neighborhood. She loves to walk

Food - always loved food - Blueberries, cookies (animal crackers), carrots (still...has been since she started eating "real" food), cracker (pb crackers), ham, cheese...there's really nothing she doesn't eat though

Demanding things - she loves to tell me and her daddy to "sit down" ("It d-own!") but we are working with her manners

She's very sweet when she knows she's done something wrong. She has been hitting lately but the second she does it she knows she shouldn't and immedietly says, "I sorry" and hugs you.

She is stubborn. To the max. (I guess all 18-24 month old kids are...)

color - she likes ot color

potty- she likes to sit on her potty and occassionally peepees. she is very proud of me or her daddy when we go potty. "Yay! daddy potty!" It's fun coming out of the bathroom to a cheer!

I can't believe I haven't kept up with all of her growing...one reason I picked back up on the blog. Her growing up all happened so fast and each month I would sit to type something but something came up. So, I'm goign to try to be better. I want to look back with her and say, "at this age you did and liked and we went and blah blah blah" .... so, maybe I can back track in a blog and try and re-cap and then going forward I can keep it up. I feel like i've said this before....

18 month Doctor Visit

Anna did very well at her 18 month check up. she HATES the doctor. She is fine in the waiting room but since it's the same nurse every time she starts crying, well, screaming until we leave. After the "mean" nurse enters, then the "mean" doctor enters. I guess I can't say I don't blame her. Every time she has been they've done something not fun. Shots, eye procedures, breathing treatments (while not painful, it can be traumatic...I hate masks at the dentist and things), catheders, blood draws, etc... But, this time it was much better. She still cried but not for the entire time. :) Yay! I hope that she is starting to know that we are doing this because we love her. I always hated it when my parents said that about stuff but it is true.

Anna is in teh 15th percentile for her weight and 40th for her height. She is staying on her "normal" growth curve so she is perfect for her. Not growing too slowly or too quickly, but staying on her normal growth pattern and he was happy with that. She only had to have 1 shot and now she is done with shots until her 4 year old check up. Yay!

We are finally done with her breathing treatments everyday. Those are much easier though since we moved to the inhaler. But, I'm glad that we stuck with it for about a year and kept her from getting worse. The med she was on helped the lungs heal and not create anymore damage from other times she got sick with colds and such. When she would get sick throughout the year we would also throw in some treatments with her albuterol which opened her airways and helped her breathe.

When the doctor started asking how many words she knew and how she was doing developmentally I was telling him that Anna knows the words hi, bye, no, hello, dog, carrot, mamma, daddy, mimi, pop, night night, cow, bubbles, thank you, bite, more, lala (Aunt Laura), Coco (cousin coco), mouth, eyes, ears, nose, and she also knows how a cow goes, how a kitten goes and how a dog goes.....so I was rattling those off and I said "nose" and she pointed to my nose and said, "nose" and then touched my lips and said "mouth." The doctor looked kind of in awe and said, "wow...that's impressive." I jokingly said, " yes. she's a genius." And, he said, "acutally I'll confirm that you have a very smart girl. Most 18 month olds will point to a body part when you say it but not say it just yet. And, she knows "mouth" and "ears" and that's really great. She's a bright girl and I see a lot of 18 month olds." I was so proud of my smart little baby girl.

I do have to admit that it probably just isn't me and my brain cells she got ;) but that she loves to read and they say readers are smarter. Since she was a litle baby, 7/8 months old, she loved books. Just loved flipping through them and coming over and sitting with us and having us read. She would wait patietnly while we read the book and she would study the pages. Now, she likes to "read." Her favorite book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? and last week she went and picked up tht book and opened each page and said, "I see. I see." which is the last part on each page."  I got a video of it and it was sent to her daddy because I was so surprised she was "reading" it! :)

So, she is growing and learning and doing everything a normal little 18 month old is doing and more and I am so happy she is mine! I'm so happy that she completes our little family of 3. Blake and I couldn't be happier with our little lives together. I can't wait to see what the next year and half brings with Anna as she grows and learns. And...many, many more years too!!

18 months

I haven't written in forever but I thought it was high time because we have a full-on communicator in the house! She's been saying words and waving bye bye and blowing kisses and all that for a while, 10, 11, 12 months-ish but now we can actually conversate. ;) It's crazy and blows my mind. Everyone always says, "I wonder what babies are thinking?" Well, I know. They are thinking, "Hey. You've been telling me what to do and how to do and what to say and how to say it for the past 18 months. Now it's my turn!" :)

Anna tells me when it's bathtime by walking into the bathroom, pointing at the tub and saying, "Bubblesss!" She tells me when she wants more food by saying, "More" while hitting her finger on the tray where she wants me to put it. No joke. She's very demanding. No clue where she gets that. When she is tired by saying, "night night." and pointing to her bed. She also loves her sleep and loves her bed. No clue where she comes by that either. But, the funniest thing, to me, is that when I ask her questions she actually pauses to think and then she shakes her head yes or no or says yes or no. And, it's all pretty accurate. "Do you want more milk?" normally, the answer is yes. But, if I ask her something silly, to check and see if she really has a clue, she'll shake her head "no." It's crazy.

I just can't believe how quickly this past year and a half have gone by. how much she has grown and learned. She now has opinions...oh, dear! She can almost say "I love you." and I can't wait until it is super clear. Right now it is "I Llll...I see!" Cause her favorite book is Brown Bear Brown Bear What do You See? and every page she "reads" and says, "I seeeeee! I seeeee!" It's darling. I love her and I can't wait to continue to see the new things she learns and does!
